One foot, then the other.

A running and walking app for iPhone. No account, no feed. Every run kept as a file you can read.

01 · Today

One number. One button.

Open it and there is today's distance, in large figures, and a button that says Start. Week, month, year and all time are a tap away.

02 · The run

Read at arm's length.

The run screen is for a glance mid-stride, in sunlight. Distance first, then time and pace, in figures you can read without slowing down.

Words, not icons: Lap, Pause, Hold to finish. Finishing takes a one-second hold, so a brush of the thumb never ends a run. Lock it and no touch does anything until you hold to unlock.

The phone is running along the Seine now, at thirty times real speed.

03 · Every activity

Every run, kept whole.

The route with each kilometre marked. Splits on moving time. Pace, cadence and terrain against distance. Moving time and elapsed time, both kept and both shown. A note, if you want one.

04 · Your files

A file you can read.

Every activity is one plain JSON file, named by its date, in the app's folder on your iPhone, or in iCloud Drive if you choose. Open it in any text editor, search it from a terminal, keep it for twenty years. Export GPX for anything else.

05 · Privacy

No account. Nothing to sign in to.

There is no account, no developer server and no analytics. Detection runs on the phone. Workouts go to Apple Health only if you say so, and an edit here does not travel back. Turn Apple Maps off and the route is drawn on a blank page, with nothing about where you ran requested from anyone. This website does not track you either. No cookies, no tracking scripts. The only thing it keeps is the email you choose to give.

06 · Journal

A journal, not a feed.

Month by month, by calendar day, or by place. No followers and no likes. What you did, in the order you did it.

07 · Detection

The walks you forgot to record.

Forgot to press Start? Foot by Foot reads your iPhone's motion history, on the phone, and offers what it finds. Add it or ignore it. Detected walks are marked as estimates, with one decimal, kept out of your records and pace, and you can filter them out.

08 · Goals

Goals that tell the truth.

Distance, time, pace and runs, each over its own period, from a day to a year. The line shows how much is done, and a mark shows how far through the period you are, so ahead or behind is plain to see. It says 23 km to go. It never says you are behind.

09 · And more

The rest of it.

Widgets
Today and your goals on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen. Start a run from Control Centre or the Action button.
Live Activity
The run on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, for as long as it lasts.
Apple Watch
A companion on your wrist. The phone keeps recording, so nothing is lost between the two.
Apple Health
Each run saved as a workout with its route. Bring your history in from Health.
Voice coach
Splits and goals spoken over your music or podcast: music ducks, a podcast pauses, and both come back. In English or Portuguese.
Fourteen themes
Two colours each, never a third. This page is wearing one of them.
Crash recovery
If anything stops mid-run, the app offers the run back the next time you open it.
Offline
Works without a connection. iCloud is a sync, never a dependency.

Tell me when it's out

We use your email for one thing: to tell you when Foot by Foot is out, and about Foot by Foot after that. Nothing else. It is never shared or sold, and every email has a link to take you off the list.
